Coronavirus (COVID-19)*

The situation is changing near daily, as a result will continue to follow guidance from the government. As a result this page will be monitored and reviewed as required.

All holidays with us will be required to follow all of the latest governement guidelines this includes those relating to your group make-up and social distancing. Additionally, we will require the names and contact information for each member of your group.


Roadmap Announcements

The following includes tentative dates from the government roadmap, for the full guidance, please visit: Gov.uk.

- April 12, 2021 to May 17, 2021: Bookings will only be accepted for a maximum of 6 guests (‘rule of six’) from ONE household.

- May 17, 2021 – June 21, 2021: Bookings would need to be for a maximum of 6 guests (‘rule of six’) from no more than TWO households.

- June 21, 2021 onwards: Bookings can be for a maximum of 12 guests from more than two households. Please contact us via email: info@bigwhitehouse.co.uk for pricing and availability.


Due to the "rule of six" - post booking you will be contacted to check which bedrooms you will require and these ones only will be made available for you.

In the event that following prevent you from traveling to your holiday either by: a government imposed 'lockdown' or due to the make up of your group - you will be offered alternate dates, a voucher to the value of any monies paid or a refund.*

It is our hope that this update to our terms and conditions will give you confidence to book your self-catering holiday with us. See our full booking terms and conditons here. 

If for any other reason you/other members of your party are unable to complete the booking (i.e. sickness or you choose not to travel) we would retain all monies paid – however we would extend the offer of alternative dates or a voucher to use at a later date.

What we are doing...

We appreciate that this is a stressful and different time; as a result we will be taking additional steps to help ensure the house is as safe as it can be and we implore everyone who visits to respect and follow these rules and procedures. We will be taking further steps to help ensure the house is cleaned and sanitised in a ‘Covid-safe’ way.

Booking FAQs

  • Booking Deposit: When booking the Big White House a deposit of £200 is due at the time of booking, the remaining balance plus the security deposit (see below) is due 7 weeks prior to the arrival date.
  • Security Deposit: The refundable security deposit is due with your holiday balance and is refunded within 10 days after your departure, provided that the house is left in a suitable condition.
  • Electricty and Gas: All bookings include fuel (gas and electricity).
  • Bed Linen & Towels: Each bed will be made with linen and towels (a bath towel for each person and a hand towel for each sink) also provided for each booking.
  • Dogs: We do allow up to a maximum of 2 dogs in the house, however there is a £50 charge per pet.
  • Kitchen basicis: We also provide a few basics to get you started in the kitchen, including: tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, dish cloths and sponges.

Full week (7 nights) bookings in the Big White House run from either Fridays or Mondays.

Short breaks are available much of the year and are available for Weekends from Friday (for either 2 or 3 nights) and Mid-week from Monday (for up to 4 nights). The short break pricing is indicated below.
